The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has commended officers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) for their gallantry and professionalism following the successful repulsion of bandit attacks in parts of the state.
CP Bakori, alongside top military and security commanders, paid an assessment visit on Thursday to JTF formations operating in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas.
The visit followed a coordinated overnight operation carried out on January 1, 2026, during which security forces repelled and dislodged suspected bandits who attempted to infiltrate the state.
The Joint Task Force comprises personnel from the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Members of the high-powered delegation included Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, Brigade Commander, 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Kano; Air Commodore M. Sulaiman, Commander, 455 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Kano; the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command; and the Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa.
Speaking during the visit, the security chiefs praised the officers for their courage, dedication, and selfless service in safeguarding lives and property. CP Bakori urged them to remain vigilant and sustain inter-agency collaboration to prevent criminal elements from gaining a foothold in the state.
“Nigeria is the only country we have, and we must work together to protect it. Be on red alert, ensure maximum synergy at all times, remain focused, and thank you for your dedication and selfless service,” the Commissioner of Police said.
The JTF officers, in their response, reaffirmed their commitment to duty and demonstrated high morale and professionalism, assuring the leadership of their readiness to continue defending the state against criminal threats.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Kano State Police Command expressed appreciation to all security personnel involved in maintaining peace and security across the state, while also calling on residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
