The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, has assured that a discreet and thorough investigation is ongoing into the killing of a legal practitioner, Ms. Princess Ochigbo, whose body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway, Abuja.

CP Dantawaye gave the assurance on Friday while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation included representatives of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), the NBA Women Forum, and the Unity Bar, who were on an advocacy visit to the Command.

The NBA delegation expressed deep concern over the tragic killing of their colleague and called for swift justice, describing the incident as a painful loss to the legal profession and society at large.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police commiserated with the NBA and the family of the deceased, assuring them that the Command has launched extensive and discreet investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

CP Dantawaye also used the opportunity to advise residents of the FCT to remain security-conscious and vigilant, particularly when boarding commercial vehicles. He cautioned members of the public, especially women, against accepting free rides from strangers and urged them to be mindful of the vehicles they patronize.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, timely information sharing, and public cooperation in combating “one-chance” criminal operations and other forms of crime within the Territory.

Residents were encouraged to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the FCT Police Command through its emergency lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.

A statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the visit underscored ongoing collaboration between the Police and the Nigerian Bar Association in the shared pursuit of justice, security, and public safety in the Federal Capital Territory.
