The Anambra State Police Command has begun the year 2026 on a high note with the decoration of nine newly promoted officers, reinforcing morale and professionalism within the Command.
The decoration ceremony was performed on Friday by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, during the First Commissioner of Police Conference for Strategic Officers held at the Police Command Headquarters in Awka.
Commending officers and men of the Command for their professionalism and dedication during the 2025 yuletide security operations, CP Orutugu charged personnel to be more proactive, responsive, and courageous in the discharge of their duties. He stressed the need for strict adherence to the Nigeria Police Act and warned against all forms of corruption in the line of duty.

The promotion exercise followed the approval and release of promotion results by the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Police described the promotions as a recognition of hard work, discipline, and exemplary service, noting that elevation in rank comes with increased responsibility and accountability.
Officers promoted include SP Adedeji Anietie, SP Andrew Gabriel, SP Emmanuel Nnaemeka, SP Adeyemi Lateef, and five others, who were elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

CP Orutugu also reiterated key directives from the Inspector-General of Police, including the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs and the suspension of the enforcement of regulations on tinted vehicles until further notice.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSP Andrew Gabriel expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission, and the Command leadership for the opportunity to serve at higher capacities. He pledged renewed commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
The event was marked by high morale and goodwill among senior officers, reflecting a strengthened sense of purpose and the Command’s resolve to enhance operational efficiency and professional excellence in Anambra State throughout 2026.
