The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has reassured residents of Tidibale Community in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State of sustained military presence and improved security.

The visit, one of his first official engagements since assuming command, followed the return of residents who had earlier fled the community due to bandit threats.

Addressing community members, Major General Koughna said troops have been deployed to Tidibale to maintain constant vigilance and respond swiftly to any security threat, assuring that no part of the community would be allowed to fall under the control of criminal elements.

He urged residents to remain alert and cooperate with security forces by promptly reporting suspicious activities, stressing that peace and security can only be sustained through strong civil-military collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Sarkin Arewa of Tidibale, Alhaji Ibrahim, commended the Nigerian Army for the timely intervention, describing the visit as reassuring and confidence-boosting. He said the presence of troops has enabled residents to return safely to their homes and farms.

Earlier, the GOC received an operational briefing at Forward Operating Base Isa from the Commanding Officer, 26 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha, on ongoing operations and the security situation in the area.

In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Officer,8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation
FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Adeniyi Osoba, the Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining offensive operations against bandit groups across the North West.
