The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded major successes in its sustained operations against vandals, economic saboteurs and drug-related offenders across Abuja.

Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, the Command intensified intelligence-led operations following a surge in attacks on critical public infrastructure, including power lines, internet cables and drainage covers. The criminal activities had disrupted electricity supply, internet services and public safety in parts of the FCT and neighbouring states.

Targeted patrols, surveillance and coordinated raids were carried out in identified hotspots such as Mabushi, Maitama and the Central Business District. These operations led to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of large quantities of stolen public assets and illicit substances.

Items recovered include 296 cut-to-size single-core armoured underground power cables valued at about ₦31.14 million, 171 drainage (manhole) covers, four portable cable pullers, two transformers and 52 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said investigations are ongoing to track down receivers, buyers and other collaborators involved in the vandalism and drug-related crimes. The Command warned that all perpetrators, including individuals who buy or trade in stolen public infrastructure, will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The FCT Police Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to law enforcement agencies.

Emergency contact lines remain open for distress calls and complaints through 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653, and the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) on 08107314192.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and ensuring a secure environment for residents and visitors in the Federal Capital Territory.
