Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 have recorded a major operational success in Zamfara State, neutralising terrorists, dismantling their enclaves and rescuing a kidnapped underage victim during a fierce offensive in the Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area.

The operation, aimed at degrading terrorist networks and restoring peace to affected communities, resulted in the neutralisation of six terrorists, the recovery of arms and ammunition, the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the rescue of a young victim held in captivity.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi, the offensive began with a targeted engagement at Indulumu village, where troops engaged terrorists in a gun battle and neutralised two of them. An AK-47 rifle was recovered during the encounter, further weakening the group’s operational capability.

Maintaining the momentum, the Strike Force advanced to Ruduno village, where it encountered further resistance. In another intense firefight, four additional terrorists were neutralised. Troops recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, while two motorcycles used for terrorist mobility and logistics were destroyed on site.

Beyond the tactical gains, the operation recorded a significant humanitarian success. As troops pushed deeper into the forest, they rescued a kidnapped underage victim, identified as Halira Ibrahim, bringing an end to her ordeal and restoring hope to the affected community.

The troops further consolidated their success by destroying multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara. These actions have denied the terrorists safe havens and severely disrupted their ability to sustain operations in the area.

The latest offensive underscores the determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to dismantle terrorist networks, rescue victims of abduction and restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
