The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening security operations in Taraba State during a courtesy visit by the Executive Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the meeting focused on reinforcing strategic collaboration between the Federal Government and Taraba State to address evolving security challenges, particularly in Karim Lamido, recently designated by the state government as a Special Area of Security Concern.

Governor Kefas was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Senators Shuaibu Lau (Taraba North), David Jimkuta (Taraba South), and Haruna Manu (Taraba Central), alongside members of the House of Representatives and commissioners overseeing justice, information, and finance in the state.

During the engagement, the governor commended the leadership of the Inspector-General and praised the Nigeria Police Force for its interventions aimed at restoring peace in affected communities.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing logistical and operational support to the Taraba State Police Command to enhance effectiveness and professionalism.

In his response, IGP Egbetokun described the visit as a critical step toward deepening intergovernmental synergy required for effective, community-oriented policing. He assured the Taraba State Government that the Force remains fully committed to deploying intelligence-led strategies and necessary operational assets to safeguard lives and property across the state, with particular emphasis on stabilising Karim Lamido and its environs.

The IGP stressed that sustained collaboration between state governments and security agencies remains vital to addressing security challenges and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement.

The visit underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s continued resolve to work closely with state authorities to promote peace, enhance public safety, and reinforce Nigeria’s internal security framework.
