Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, has showered encomiums on Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa and other heads of security agencies for their outstanding service and commitment to peace and stability in the state.
The Governor gave the commendation on Thursday, January 30, 2026, during a state dinner held at the Government House Banquet Hall in honour of retired and transferred security chiefs who served in Taraba State.
Governor Kefas described their performance as excellent, stressing that sustained teamwork, professionalism, and the sharing of actionable intelligence remain critical to overcoming insecurity, not only in Taraba but across the country.
He reaffirmed that his administration would not relent in prioritising security, noting that peace and safety are central to development. As a retired senior military officer, the Governor said his assessment of the outgoing security heads was based on professional standards, adding that they performed creditably despite Taraba’s complex operational environment with over 80 ethnic groups.
“I am confident that wherever you are called upon to serve next, you will continue to excel,” the Governor said, assuring that his administration would sustain support for security agencies through collaboration, intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation.
Earlier, the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Katap, described Taraba as the safest state in Northern Nigeria, attributing the achievement to the dedication and commitment of the honoured security chiefs.
He noted that the officers had written their names in gold by preserving the state’s reputation as a safe haven, adding that the banquet was the second organised by the Kefas administration to honour individuals who served the state meritoriously.

According to him, the security chiefs “came, saw and conquered” in their collective responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Those honoured at the event included the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General K.C. Uwa; AIG Emmanuel Bretet (retd); the State Director of the Department of State Services, Mr Edet Victor; Squadron Leader John Osifo; CP Sebastian D.O. Gshal; DCP Nwadogbu Cletus; Mr Jerry Moral; and Mr Sale Mijinyawa.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, former Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, AIG Emmanuel Bretet (retd), expressed gratitude to the state government for the recognition and support given to security agencies during their tenure.
He said the successes recorded were driven by effective intelligence sharing, teamwork and the avoidance of inter-agency rivalry, urging the government to extend the same level of support to their successors to sustain the gains achieved.
The ceremony highlighted the Taraba State Government’s appreciation of security personnel and its unwavering commitment to peace, stability and good governance.
