In what many described as an inspiring and life-changing initiative, the Dr. Cairo Ojougboh Foundation has reinforced its commitment to supporting government efforts in advancing educational development in Nigeria.
Established in honour of the late medical doctor and former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, the Foundation recently organised a special programme at St. Columba’s Grammar School, Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area in Delta State.
The event, themed “Your Future, Your Choice,” saw the Foundation present a cheque of ₦2.7 million to cover examination fees for students sitting for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), and Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) examinations.

Beyond the payment of examination fees, the Foundation rewarded academic excellence with cash prizes for the best-performing students across the school’s nine academic arms. Notebooks and other writing materials were also distributed to enhance effective learning.
The programme was not only a financial intervention but also a strong investment in the academic and personal development of the students, celebrating the enduring legacy of discipline, excellence, and service for which Dr. Ojougboh was known.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Foundation, Mrs. Bose Ojougboh, stressed the importance of giving back to the institution that helped shape Dr. Cairo’s life and values. She noted that St. Columba’s Grammar School played a pivotal role in his personal and academic development.
She encouraged students to remain focused and hardworking, urging them to see obstacles not as roadblocks but as stepping stones for growth. According to her, discipline, consistency, and intentional decision-making are essential ingredients for success.

Mrs. Ojougboh, accompanied by her sons, Mr. Nkem Ojougboh and Mr. Orieka Ojougboh, who actively participated in the programme, reminded students that every choice they make contributes to shaping their future.
The event also drew strong participation from the Old Boys of St. Columba’s Grammar School, led by Elder Ndudi Agholor. The alumni shared nostalgic memories of their time at the school and commended the current leadership for sustaining the institution’s high standards.
In their remarks, the school principal, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ugboh, and the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, praised the Ojougboh family for sustaining a meaningful legacy. They described the initiative as commendable and impactful, urging the Foundation to continue its support.
They expressed deep appreciation for the generous intervention, noting that the gesture had greatly inspired and motivated the students to strive for excellence.
The programme concluded on a hopeful and uplifting note, with students leaving energised and determined to make positive choices about their future.
