The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has strengthened its operational collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to enhance maritime security and support seamless trade along the busy Apapa port corridor.
According to a press release on 26th February 2026, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Area Command, Emmanuel Oshoba, paid a courtesy visit on 25th February to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha.
During the visit, Oshoba commended the Navy for safeguarding Nigeria’s waters, stating, “No vessel can come into the country without safe waters. We commend you for keeping the maritime environment secure.” He also sought sustained support along the Apapa port corridor to ensure smooth cargo movement.

In response, Rear Admiral Mustapha reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between both agencies, emphasising, “Port security is about inter-agency coordination. Without security, there is no development.”
The FOC also lauded the NCS under the leadership of CGC Adeniyi for blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets. He pledged the Navy’s continued support in ensuring both seamless cargo movement and the overall security of the maritime domain.
The collaboration highlights the critical synergy between Nigeria’s Customs and Navy in protecting maritime trade, securing revenue, and fostering economic development.
