The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to accelerating infrastructure development across the FCT, describing it as a reward for political loyalty and public support.
Wike made the remarks in Abuja on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during a high-profile “thank-you” visit to the Bwari Area Council, where he expressed appreciation to residents for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recent FCT Area Council elections.
Speaking to community leaders, youths and party supporters, the Minister conveyed President Tinubu’s personal gratitude to the people of Bwari, assuring them that their support would not be taken for granted.

“On behalf of Mr. President, let me thank you for fulfilling the promise you made to him,” Wike said. “Mr. President asked me to tell you thank you. He will also fulfil his own part, and that will be done through me by giving you more projects.”
The Minister recalled earlier commitments made by the administration and noted that many of the promised projects were already underway. He stressed that under the Renewed Hope agenda, governance is built on mutual responsibility between the government and the people.
“When you do your own part, we will do our own part,” Wike said, pledging that the ongoing Bwari–Kubwa road project would be completed within the year.
He also directed the Chairman of the Area Council to submit a fresh list of priority projects for the community, in line with President Tinubu’s directive to address local development needs more effectively.
“Mr. President has directed me to tell the Chairman to let us know what we are going to do for the people of Bwari,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots governance, the Minister pledged close collaboration with the Chairman-elect to drive youth-focused development initiatives across the council. He, however, warned residents against what he described as “fake leaders” who engage in performative politics without delivering tangible results.

“We should not waste time listening to corn chewers and groundnut chewers on the road. They are fake people,” Wike said, urging residents to focus on leaders with proven records of service.
The Minister also commented on the current representation of the FCT in the Senate, suggesting a disconnect between the people and their representative. He hinted at the possible emergence of a future candidate who better understands the aspirations of FCT residents, signaling a shift in the territory’s political direction ahead of future elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya, thanked the Minister for identifying closely with the community, noting that ongoing infrastructure projects were already transforming the area. He assured the administration of continued support from the people of Bwari.
Also speaking, the Etsu Bwari, Ibrahim Yaro, commended the Minister’s visible developmental strides and pledged the backing of the traditional institution for the FCT’s urban renewal efforts.
On his part, the Chairman-elect, Joshua Ishaku, described Wike as a humble leader whose impact transcends politics, lauding his role in delivering President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda through rapid infrastructure development across the FCT.
The visit underscored the FCT Administration’s strategy of consolidating political support through visible governance and people-focused development initiatives.
The event was disclosed in a statement by Rabi Musa Umar, Deputy Director, Press, Office of the Honourable Minister.
