In a sweeping operation to clear terrorists enclaves, thereby curbing their activities and other non-state actors threatening the safety of residents in Bauchi State, troops of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, has recorded significant operational success as part of the ongoing Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III.

The Operation, it was learnt, is focused on restoring peace and security in vulnerable communities, specifically targeted Mansur Village and surrounding settlements within the Alkaleri Local Government Area.

This was disclosed Lt Col Olumide Victor Olukoya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, on Thursday, 5th March, 2026, in Jos, Plateau State.

Explaining that Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III was launched by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, added that it signaled a renewed commitment to safeguarding the region from violent elements.

Following a deliberate and well-coordinated offensive, troops of 3 Division rapidly advanced into identified flashpoints, establishing dominance over key areas and successfully dislodged armed terrorists who had attempted to assert control over Mansur Village.

A thorough clearance of the village subsequently led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, thereby, degrading their operational capabilities and denying them the means to perpetuate violence.

In the wake of these gains, troops have consolidated their positions and launched aggressive fighting patrols alongside confidence-building patrols throughout Alkaleri LGA, ensuring sustained military presence and the maintenance of law and order.

The renewed military posture did not only delivered tangible results, but has disrupted the operational networks of criminal elements, restored public confidence and created a safer environment for law-abiding citizens to resume socio-economic activities without fear.

Also, stabilisatioperations are ongoing and efforts are on to ensure the safe return of the inhabitants of Mansur Village and the entire LGA.

The GOC urged troops of the Division to maintain the operational momentum, stressing the importance of denying terrorists any freedom of action.

He reaffirmed the Division’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable communities across its Area of Responsibility, underscoring the Nigerian Army’s resolve to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
