A recent proactive policing measure embarked upon by the Delta state Command under the watch of CP Ari Muhammed Ali has paid off as operatives of the force on the 6th July, 2021 about 1200hrs, along Ijomi Otefe road, in Oghara intercepted a Lexus 350 ES Saloon car with Reg. No. Abuja YAB 865 BP driven by one Dennis Oghenevwede, a 29 years old male of Jesse.
A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a handbag containing two cuts to size barrel pistols with seven cartridges. An investigation later revealed that the said suspect is a notorious cultist who has been on the wanted list of Police in the state. Also arrested on the 5th July, 2021 were armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Agbarha-Otor dispossessing them of their belongings.
On receipt of this information, the DPO Ughelli Division detailed detective to the scene, the armed robbers were successfully naturalized by the policemen, and one of the suspect’s Obakpororo Julius of No. 68 Agbarha-Otor 43 years was arrested.
However, exhibits recovered from him included one locally made pistol, six live cartridges, one expanded cartridge and some wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and four difference phones.
In another development, operatives of Operation Delta Hawk Patrol team while on confidence-building patrol at Ishekpe quarters Ogwahi-uku, intercepted and arrested one Sunday Umadia, a 41 years old man of Ogbobo quarters Ogwashi-Uku.
Upon search, 174 wraps of dried weed suspected to Indian hemp, 800 sachets of suspected SK, 10 razor (roll bond), one lighter and a cash sum N317,890 were recovered from him. A preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect is a major dealer in illicit drugs.
Similarly, also arrested at Ogedegbe Street, Warri was one Austin Ojunom, 29 years was arrested with 129 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, the suspect has confessed to the crime while the investigation is continuing.
