Following proactive steps adopted by the Delta State Police Command to ensure that Aiye Confraternity doesn’t have an unhindered commemoration of their illicit day, 7th July, 2021, the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ali mandated Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to carry out surveillance and patrol in their area of jurisdictions.
As a result, the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri, CSP T.Y Mahmud led men of the Divisional Rapid Respond Squad on patrol, intercepted and arrested one Oghenewaro Bebe, a 21 years old male of No. 22 of Ughoton area in Okpe Local Government while wearing the full regalia of Aiye Black Axe confraternity.
The suspect who confessed to be a member of the cult group, eventually led the team to a bush bar at Jeddo which is their meeting point.
Unfortunately for them, at the bush bar, a live silver-like 7.63mm ammunition was recovered.
Based on the recovery, the suspect was said to have led the police to the Ughoton community where one of the top leaders of the confraternity, Oritsetusem Fenemigho, 29 years old is residing and was promptly was arrested along with the following members in the same apartment.
Others arrested included: Weyinmi Onomakponi, 35 years; Emmanuel Edah, 27 years; Osro Etiosa, 23 years; Oshef Benji, 27 years; Confidence Sunday, 18 years; Akintemeyin James, 18 years; and Hope Agbogidi, 25 years old lady.
The following exhibits were recovered in the apartment: Two locally made pistols, one battles axe, one long cutlass, five customized Aiye pillows, one customized center table with Aiye logo, one AK 47 expended ammunition, necklace used as a body protection charm, two HP Laptop, six iphones, two suspected stolen Lexus car keys – one original and a duplicate copy.
The Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest and recovery added that the said Oritseusen Fenemigho later led a team to Idimi Osobo under Okere Urhobo where they recovered the suspected stolen car.
In another development, on the 8th July, 2021 about 1130hrs, while men of Operation Delta Hawk Patrol teams were on “stop and search” along Cable Point Asaba, they intercepted one Esealuka Paul, 17 years old and recovered from him 68 sachet of dried weed suspected to be Indian hemp.
Other items recovered from the adolescent were 33 sachet of SK, six packs of Razler and one lighter. The suspect was subsequently arrested while the investigation continues.
While advising parents and guardians to monitor their wards against cultism, CP Mohammed Ali thanked members of the public for their cooperation and urged them to show good examples to their children.
