Motivated by its continued service to humanity and to ensure the safety of motoring in Lagos, the State Government has donated two new patrol vehicles to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance its operational activities.
The vehicles presented through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), were recently handed over to the representative of the Sector Commander, FRSC, Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Engr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins and representative of Board of the fund, its Administrative Director, Mr Degbola Lewis, said the additional vehicles would assist FRSC in saving the lives of the motoring public and increase its visibility in the state at all times.
Engr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins noted that the vehicles were part of the promise made to the Command during the Governor’s assessment visit to ascertain the level of damage to operational equipment after the #EndSars protest.
He also noted that the Government appreciated the strides of the Corps in traffic control and enforcement in the state adding that the feedback it has been getting from Lagosians on the assistance of the Corps has been very positive. He thanked the donors for supporting the funds.
Receiving the vehicles branded in FRSC colours, the Deputy Corps Commander Operations, Cyril Mathew appreciated the Lagos State Government for the donations and assured of judicious use of the vehicles in tackling traffic gridlock.
According to him, the handing over of the vehicles would serve as a challenge to the FRSC to ensure that lives and property of people in the State are protected at all times and by extension Nigerians.
Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi FRSC Public Education Officer in a statement on Thursday said also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations Dr. Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen while DCC Tajudeen Mafe accompanied DCC Operations at the handing over ceremony.
