What appears to be a significant breakthrough in the war against organised crime was achieved by the Katsina Police Command as they have arrested one Abdullahi Sani, a 40-year-old male, of Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State for assisting bandits to purchase essential needs and purveyor of information.
The suspect was nabbed on August 12, 2021, at about 1600hrs, after he was overheard discussing with a notorious bandit leader, Alhaji Ado Buji on phone. It was gathered that the community also suspected him to be an informant to the bandit.
Disclosing this on Friday in Katsina, the spokesperson of the Police Command, SP Gambo Isah explained that in the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and stated that sometimes ago, he was given the sum of N800,000:00K to buy essential needs for the said bandit and his camp.
The suspect also stated that one Mallam Mustapha Isah, 35 years of Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA was the one who introduced him to the said bandit leader, Ado Buji.
He confessed to being an errand boy for the bandits and collected the sum of N200,000:00 from the said Alhaji Ado Buji.
Briefing the press about his achievement in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Sanusi Buba, also disclosed the arrest of an impersonator of personnel of Nigerian Correctional Service whose notoriety for stealing motorcycles is impeccable.
“On August 17, 2021, about 1330hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting one Shamsu Sani, 32 years old from Yammawa Quarters, Katsina, an ex-convict, a notorious thief, who specializes in house-breaking and theft of motorcycles.
Nemesis was said to have caught up with the suspect when he was arrested wearing Nigerian Correctional Service Uniform and impersonating the agency, with a suspected stolen motorcycle, Day-Long, Red in colour, with Reg. No. KTN 266 UX at Kankia LGA belonging to one Lawal Musa, of Bakin Kasuwa Quarter, Katsina.
In the course of the investigation, two suspected receivers were also arrested and five motorcycles reasonably suspected to be stolen were recovered in their possession.
Abdulmalik Haruna, of Sabon Titi Kwado, Habibu Kabir, of Sabuwar Unguwa, Lawal Magaji aka KC, of Filin Polo and Hassan Usman, of Layin Kamfala, Fagge LGA, Kano, along the Jibia road were caught in possession of two motorcycles Cargo and Boxer reasonably suspected to be stolen.
In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to have stolen the motorcycles at Alaba Quarters, Katsina.
In the course of the investigation led to the arrest of Shamsu Sani, Masanawa Quarters, and Bishir Ladan in possession of three additional motorcycles two Houjoe and one Jinchen Robber reasonably suspected to be stolen.
Others arrested were serial rapists who had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minors on different occasions.
