Governor Okezie Ikpeazu yesterday appreciated all Abians for finding time to wish him well at his 57th birthday celebration.
Speaking at an informal get-together organized by his wife, Deaconess Nkechi at their Country Home in Umuobiakwa, Obingwa Local Government Area, the Governor thanked God for the privilege of life and good health, assuring that he will continue to give his best for the people of Abia State. He thanked his wife for yet again, “conspiring with his close friends”, to pull off the event.
The Governor used the opportunity to announce that part of his plans as he heads towards the twilight of his administration is to set up the OKEZIE IKPEAZU FOUNDATION which will focus mainly on what he called EDUSPORTS, a scheme that will help identify and help groom young talents in the area of sports.
The Governor was later joined by his wife, the Deputy Governor and his wife, the Governor’s son, State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), David Iroh Esq, Chief of Staff to the Governor to cut his birthday cake. Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Ogbonna-Erondu officiated the cutting of the cake.
The Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, and his wife, Lady Vivian, some members of the State Executive Council, some aides of the Governor, family members of the Governor, and his close associates were present at the event.
