The Passport Control Officer (PCO ) Ikoyi passport office of the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) Lagos State, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) A. I. Liman has been commended for efficient and quality services rendered to Nigerians and scores of visitors who apply for to International passport at Ikoyi office.
A good number of applicants who spoke to our correspondent separately at the Ikoyi passport office said they were impressed the way things are currently being conducted since DCI Liman took over as the Passport Control Officer.
According to them, payment are done online through the Servicom and the price of each class of passport are displayed openly to avoid sharp practices.
Meanwhile the news that some officials of the passport office were indicted for giving higher price to the CGI when he visited the office recently has been said to be a fake news and a hoax cooked up by one of the junk Media online meant to discredit the good image of officers and men of the Ikoyi Passport office.
Describing the officers as “honest and transparent in carrying out their duties”, a top Immigration Source from the Office of the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI) Idris Isah told our Correspondent that the CGI never accused any Immigration personnel of any act of corruption during his visit to Lagos hence the story from the online which later went viral was deemed a falsehood.
The Source said that the CGI was not happy when he saw the fake news with him being quoted to have made the statement during a telephone conversation with an online Reporter.
However, to boost the morale of the Passport Control Officer (PCO), Ikoyi passport office and its personnel, the Nigeria Peace Magazine presented a Golden Leadership Award to the Passport Control Officer, Ikoyi Passport Office, DCI A.I Liman and urged him to keep it up with his excellent job and service to humanity.
Commending his professional skills in attending to scores of applicants who visit the office on daily basis while presenting the Golden Award to DCI Liman, the Managing Editor, Nigeria Peace Magazine, Comrade Benjamin Igbe said rewarding excellent epitomizes the essence of the award.
In his response after receiving the Award, DCI Liman promised to keep on doing the good job he has been doing at the Ikoyi passport office and thanked the organization for the award for Excellent Service Delivery.
