In a bid to ensure the successful deployment of its Core Banking Software Application, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has commenced efforts to leverage lessons from the successful implementation of the e-NHIS ICT Infrastructure by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The initiative started on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, when the FMBN Managing Director/Chief Executive officer (MD/CEO), Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa led a team comprising members of the Bank’s Core Banking Application Deployment Team, ICT Consultants, and other Management Staff on a visit to the NHIS Office in Abuja.
Speaking, Arc. Dangiwa said FMBN is in the process of migrating its manual operations to digital and sees immense learning opportunities from the e-NHIS electronic platform that is transforming the entire operations of the health insurance sector in the country.
“FMBN’s business operations have been largely manual over the 30-years existence of the Bank. When we came on board in 2017, we quickly noticed that this was unacceptable and embarked on an aggressive drive to fix it. We have made some progress, but the biggest is that we eventually secured Government approval to deploy a Core Banking application that would help us go fully digital. We are inspired by your successful deployment of the-NHIS platform, its nationwide applicability, and would like to work with NHIS towards ensuring the successful deployment of our system too”.
Responding, the Executive Secretary NHIS, Prof Nasir Sambo, expressed appreciation to FMBN for the visit. He noted that FMBN is a sister agency, and NHIS is willing and ready to partner with the Bank towards knowledge sharing in the spirit of inter-sectoral collaboration and partnership.
The meeting featured a detailed presentation by the NHIS ICT Team on the e-NHIS platform and questions from the FMBN Team.
