The Search and Rescue Team of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), on Wednesday emerged as the first responder at the Recall Exercise organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in Abuja on Counter-Terrorism.
The exercise which was held at the Metro Station saw Team FEMA leading in the response to a distress call on the toll-free emergency number 112.
The Head, Public Relations Unit of FEMA, Nkechi Isa, said in a statement that the objective of the Recall Exercise is to test the response time and verify the capabilities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
It is also a move toward preparing the response Agencies to test their response time.
The ONSA in collaboration with the British High Commission has set up a multi-agency counter-terrorism crises response working group, intended to develop a national crisis management doctrine.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss has commended Team FEMA for the timely response.
Abbas urged the Team to sustain the tempo and strive to improve their response time to emergencies.
