A Divisional Police Officer, DPO Danmusa has led a team of policemen to raid suspected criminal hideouts in Danmusa Local Government Area and arrested one Kamala Lawal Abubakar, 33 years old, from Unguwar Sale Quarters, in Katsina state who was suspected to be a fugitive that escaped from Kuje prison, Abuja.
He was arrested on the 14th of July 2022 at about 1800hrs, based on credible information made available to the DPO.
Disclosing the arrest, the spokesperson, Katsina state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah on Friday added that during the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having escaped from Kuje Prison, Abuja, during the recent Kuje jailbreak.
Also, some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was also recovered in his possession during the police search and the suspect would be handed over to Nigerian Correctional Service, for further necessary action.
In another development, police busted a syndicate of armed robbers that have been terrorizing Katsina and its environs on the 5th July 2022 at about 03400hrs.
According to SP Gambo, the Command succeeded in busting the notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing the metropolitan area and its environs through diligent surveillance.
The statement read in part, “Nemesis caught up with the duo of one Abdulrazak Isyaku, 25 years, and Muhammad Abubakar, 18 years both of Kambarawa, notorious armed robbers, who specialized in breaking into people’s houses in Katsina and committing an armed robbery at night.
“Suspects were apprehended based on credible intelligence, at Kambarawa Quarters, Katsina, and in the course of the investigation, two stolen motorcycles; one Motobi, ash in colour, unregistered and Hijoe, red in colour, with registration number KTN 89 QN were recovered in their possessions.
“Suspects confessed to the commission of several armed robbery attacks in the state and confessing one Muhammed Lalo, a male, now at large, as their accomplice.”
Also arrested was a notorious kidnapper who hibernates with some terrorists on the 2nd July 2022 at about 2233hrs, based on a tip-off.
The Command arrested one Bello Sale Jino, 25 years of Modoji village, a notorious leader of kidnap for ransom syndicate and a suspected terrorist.
He was arrested in a hideout at Bakuru village, Katsina. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to being a leader of the kidnap for ransom gang and was in the village based on the invitation by one Mustapha Badamasi, to carry out surveillance on a rich man in the village, who has plenty of cows.
Furthermore, the “suspect confessed to have kidnapped many people within Katsina metropolitan City and collected ransom ranging from N80,000 to N200,000 naira.
Some of his gang members arrested include Muhammed Ibrahim, 25 years of Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina; Anas Abdullahi, 30 years of Sabon Gida Quarters, Katsina, and Mustapha Badamasi.
