After about a month in captivity, a five-year-old baby girl was today, August 30, 2022, rescued by the Zamfara State Police Tactical Operatives attached to 42 Police Mobile Force Squadron Gusau.
The operation was made possible after some policemen in joint operations with the vigilante near Dajin Kare Kukanka forest, acted on an intelligence report that led to the unconditional rescue of 12 hostages including the baby girl from Rungawa village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
Confirming the rescue, the Zamfara State Police spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu said that the victims were rescued unhurt, after being abducted by armed bandit/terrorists and taken to Kare Kukanka forest, where a notorious bandit leader popularly known as “Bello Maibille” uses as camp.
He further disclosed that the victims have been medically checked at 42 PMF Clinic Gusau, debriefed by the Police and handed over to their families.
The Commissioner of Police while congratulating the victims for regaining their freedom, assures the public of the Command’s commitment to apprehending the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
The CP further commended the joint Police/vigilante operatives for the well-done job and enjoins all and sundry to be security conscious and report suspicious characters or movements to the Police or any security agency for prompt action.
