The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Isidore C Chikere, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, paid an unscheduled visit to NSCDC training School, Achi Oji River, where officers and men of the Command are undergoing arms and combat training as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security system.
The training, according to a statement by the Command Spokesperson, DSC Okadigbo Edwin, is expected to last for about one month, and it is targeted at injecting new ideas on weapons handling, musketry, Baton and Rifle Exercise (BARE), combat operations, individual manoeuvre, and range practice.
The Anambra State NSCDC boss said the purpose of his visit was to have first-hand information and assessment of the training camp and to see how the trainees are faring.
He reiterated his commitment to strengthening and improving the skills and professionalism of the trainees to effectively function in the law enforcement environment.
Comdt. Chikere while addressing the trainees tasked them to pay rapt attention to a better picture of what to expect in weapon handling, shooting skills, less lethal options and tactics that would allow them to demonstrate critical decision-making in a pressured time frame.
He added that they are expected to exhibit self-discipline and understanding of the rules of engagement governing weapon handling while assuring that the Command would provide available resources for the trainees as part of the commitment of the Commandant General.
