Ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections, scheduled for Saturday, February 25, a group known as READYTOLEADAFRICA launched an APP, called, FOLLOWTHERESULT CIVIC-TECH APP in Abuja on Friday.
ReadyToLeadAfrica launched its FOLLOWTHERESULT App and open its situation room, also known as OCTAGON Situation Room for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Global President of ReadyToLeadAfrica, Godbless Otubure, said, FollowTheResult App was designed for an electoral integrity promotion and civic participation platform to create history which would give Africa’s largest democracy, Nigeria, a lift.
Otubure speaking on the importance of the platform at the event which took place at Abuja Continental Hotel said the Saturday’s election would define the future of Nigeria.
“In less than 24 hours from now, many of the more than 90 million Nigerians who are eligible to vote will march out en masse, to elect this country’s 5th democratic president, and 10th National Assembly: a choice which will define not just our present, but our future – and, indeed, that of our children.
“At ReadyToLeadAfrica, we, just like many others appreciate the gravity of this moment in time.
“And, for this reason, we have plunged ourselves wholeheartedly into this herculean task of enabling public accountability in our democratic processes and institutions, by leveraging on a unique blend of people – especially youth – and indigenous civic technology.
“It is absolutely crucial that citizens own and protect the integrity of the electoral process, and hold government and politicians accountable.
“And, in this direction, ladies and gentlemen, we present a truly novel election results observation platform, named FollowTheResult.
“Through this platform being launched today, both citizens and stakeholders within and outside Nigeria will be able to access and follow the credible 2023 Presidential election results, as they are announced.” He said.
According to him, this would be a great platform for Election Observers all across the 36 States and FCT, adding that their Data Clerks are ready for the platform.
“We must sincerely appreciate the efforts and support of our funder on this project, the Open Society Foundations (OSF); whose strong support of our work has given us a veritable platform to execute this lofty initiative.
“We also thankfully acknowledge our civil society and institutional partners, chief among which are the United States Government through the US Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria, INEC, Connected Development (CODE), the Presidential Precinct (USA), the University of Virginia, the Media ecosystem and other faithful supporters within and beyond the borders of our great country Nigeria.
“We commend the dogged determination of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver a truly transparent and modern electoral process.
“We have great faith in the deployment of election technologies like the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) by the INEC, courtesy of the Electoral Act 2022.
“To the many Nigerians who are determined both to exercise their personal franchise and to help follow the results diligently and effectively to the end, we honor your sincerity of purpose and depth of dogged commitment.
“The labor of our heroes now shall never be in vain. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” He said.
