The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BRAVE VISAGE, Chinenye Duluoha, also known as Chi-Chi D’SUNSHINE, has decried the neglect of Nigerian women in politics and governance in the country.
The certified Health Manager and an Entrepreneur, made the observation from Enugu State, in an online interview with the PEOPLE AND POWER NEWSMAGAZINE.
According to her, Nigeria women’s inclusiveness in governance is poor adding that women have made a remarkable input in Nigeria’s political and economic history.
She praised Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Late Dora Akunyili, Florence Alakija, Chimamanda Adichie, and others.
She explained that these women even did more, when they were given the platform, stressing that women should be considered without delay in appointments.
The multi-talented Entrepreneur said the appointment of more women in office would spur continuous competition stating that male counterparts would shun corrupt practices and do the right thing and kill gender inequality, too.
Duluoha urged women to leave the ‘House Wife’ mentality and up their games, stressing that they have a part to play in politics, art, vocation, and advocacy.
Speaking on her pet project, the BRAVE VISAGE, Duluoha explained that she was motivated to go into the project to help the society in the humanitarian sector adding that she took the assignment because of her desire to change lives, irrespective of race, colour, or tribes.
According to her, she is into other projects aside from NGO work, stressing that she is into skill training, entrepreneurship, sewing, baking, and building music talents.
Duluoha stated that more than five people have benefitted from her Foundation.
She disagreed with the opinion of people who believes that prostitution is caused by poverty and poor parenting stating that such views are not justification for prostitution.
“It’s simply human ego and carefree attitude that lead to that. There are little Jobs and vocations one can start with and grow in life but self-conceit and peer pressure have led many to doom.” She said.
She disclosed that her Foundation is building partnerships with United Nations, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and other international blocs both for funding and emancipation.
She explained that her funding is coming from individual donations adding that the Foundation could raise money from higher bodies through sponsorships and grants.
“In Nigeria, prostitution is on the high rise; as a woman what’s your advice to young ladies who are into it with excuses that they don’t have anybody to help them?
Prostitution is no justification to solve life issues.
“It’s simply human ego and carefree attitude that lead to that. There are few Jobs and vocations one can start with and grow in life but self-conceit and peer pressure have led many to doom.
“For Nigeria women’s inclusiveness in governance is poor; Four percent rate. Women have made their marks in Nigeria’s political and economic history. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Dora Akunyili, Florence Alakija, Chimanada Adichie and so on. They even do more when they are given the platform. They should be considered without delay.
“It would spur continuous competition in history making which would also make men’s counterparts leave corrupt practices and do the right things. It will kill gender inequality too.
“We are building partnerships with United Nations, IMF, and other international blocs both for funding and emancipation.
“Women should leave House Wife mentality and up their game. They have a part to play in Politics, Art, Vocation, and advocacy.”
