The Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government Area, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun, received a delegation of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) led by the Lagos Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye.
The purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the presence and purpose of their officials within the community which include ensuring road safety, gathering comprehensive data on commutes, occurrences, and accidents as well as curtailing road encroachment and obstructions.
It was also an opportunity to seek the assistance of the Executive Chairman to enable them to carry out their operations seamlessly.
Babatunde Farinloye stated that while the aforementioned challenges with traffic management are general problems, proper synergy with relevant government authorities within the community including the council will be of great help.
The Executive Chairman acknowledged the presence, hard work and commitment of the FRSC officers posted to Epe. She touched on the recklessness of tanker drivers within the area and called for the installation of speed breakers at strategic spots in Epe to forestall accidents.
In light of this, Epe Local Government in collaboration with the FRSC and other stakeholders hosted an Advocacy Programme on July 28, 2023, to sensitize car owners especially commercial drivers on road etiquette, speed limits, and the disadvantage of reckless driving.
