…SAYS “CRIME DIGITALLY DRIVEN”

Every good work for the service of the nation and humanity has an underlining reward as two Inspectors of Police in the Lagos State Police Command smiled home on Thursday with different cash and gift prizes for their immeasurable contribution and commitment to duty and security of lives and properties.
The two officers, Inspectors Osazewende Philomena and Bello Adinoye were gifted with cash prizes while the latter also got, in addition, a 40-inch television.
Other officers rewarded included ASP Adefunke Adepoju, of the department of traffic control for her sense of dedication to duty.
According to CP Idowu Owohunwa said of Inspector Bello “The first time I heard him dishing out orders to officers preparatory to an operation, I asked who was that and they told me he was an Inspector of police. I asked: An inspector?
“He was so confident imbued with good command and mastery of his professional trade. I commend you for your brilliance and dutifulness. To others that have stood tall, I thank you and wish you more powers to your elbows,” CP Owohunwa reemphasized.
The police boss who said the command will continue to be proactive and muscle the criminals out of circulation, spoke during the Commissioner of Police Monthly Strategic Meeting with field officers – Compol Commanders, Area and Unit Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers – at the Lagos State Command Officers’ Mess, Ikeja Lagos on Thursday.
Adding that “Today marks exactly one-month “Operation Flush” began in the state, explained that the command was forging new frontiers and forming barriers to combat crime in Lagos.
“This is an evaluation of our success story with a view to restrategizing” and outwitting the nuisance values of criminals. “This is also an avenue to keep you abreast of new trends and patterns in crime the public needs to be aware of and how to effectively deal with them.
Owohunwa further explained “In our proactive policing approach, we use this conference to assess and look forward to the challenges ahead of us. Lagosians should be ready to see better policing as the month comes to an end and look forward to September. We shouldn’t be waiting for December before strategizing as we look ahead and plan ahead.”
While commending the Divisional Police Officers (DP0s), CP Owohunwa reemphasized that since “Operation Flush” commenced, their efforts for the entrenchment of better policing have led to the cracking of notorious cultists, investigative excellence, and recovery of stolen vehicles in the nooks and crannies of the state.
“I commend all of you because you have done well. You have shown resilience, commitment, loyalty, and sacrifice to duty. The world is changing and crime is dynamic. Therefore, we must leverage the assistance provided by sister agencies, with their unique capability, we have been able to achieve our mandate.
He also disclosed that just as Lagos State Police Command is the first to have established Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in the country, with effective collaboration, it is the first to have Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) with 18 personnel to set up Lagos focal Desk office, noting that there is hardly a crime that is not digitally driven.
With the Nigeria Police Force collaborating with the anti-corruption agency, the sky is the starting place for combating crime.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of NFIU, Alhaji Tukur commended the resilience and abilities of the police to deter and check crimes, making the society a better place despite crime sophistication.
