The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has once again proven its growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading universities for academic excellence, emerging with an impressive performance at the 5th Edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NAPTAP-M).
The event was held at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre on 8 July 2025. In the 2024/2025 admission exercise, AFIT secured first position among Nigerian universities for its highest level of compliance with the JAMB admission guidelines, validating its commitment to a merit-based and standard-driven admissions process.
This marks an advancement from the 2023/2024 admission cycle, where the institution ranked second.
In the overall NAPTAP-M Combined Award covering both the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 admission years, AFIT ranked 4th out of 172 universities nationwide, trailing only Ahmadu Bello University (1st), the University of Ilorin (2nd), and Nile University (3rd).
This remarkable performance underscores AFIT’s growing reputation for excellence, transparency, and adherence to best practices in the Nigerian higher education system.

These achievements reflect the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, which prioritizes capacity building, strategic partnerships, and excellence in education as key enablers for air power development.
The recognition has also drawn commendation from the CAS, who described AFIT’s performance as a validation of the Nigerian Air Force’s deliberate investment in capacity building through education.
AFIT, renowned as Nigeria’s premier aerospace institution for higher learning and one of the fastest growing tertiary institutions in the country in terms of national spread, has continued to evolve into a world class centre for innovation, meritocracy and academic excellence.
With its recent strides, the Institute is poised to play an even more prominent role in shaping Nigeria’s future workforce through quality education, innovation, and character development.
