The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that Nigerians should disregard the publication circulating on social media on the issue of the administration printing money since 2015 by CBN stating that it was false. This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Taiye Elebiyo-Edeni, Media Assistant to the Honourable Minister of Transportation.
According to the statement, Amaechi said he has never held any financial institution in the country and therefore did not qualify as an authority in the issues that concerns printing of money into the economy.
He, however, advised Nigerians who want information on the printing of money to find out from the appropriate agency not circulating a false statement to gain cheap publicity.
Earlier, on May 3, a publication stated that the Minister was interviewed in 2019 admitting that President Muhammadu Buhari has always ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to keep printing money since 2015.
