The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has convened a peace dialogue with leaders and stakeholders of Nimo community in Njikoka Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen peace, foster reconciliation, and address lingering communal disputes in the area.

The interactive session, held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at St. Vincent Primary School, Ifite-Ani, Nimo, brought together key community figures, including the Local Government Chairman, the traditional ruler, town union executives, youth and women leaders, as well as security partners.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, the dialogue was designed to encourage mutual understanding among community members and reaffirm the Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order through peaceful engagement.

Speaking during the meeting, CP Orutugu emphasized the importance of dialogue and community partnership in sustaining peace and security.

“Security and peace can only thrive when communities actively collaborate with the Police and other security agencies,” he said, urging residents to embrace reconciliation, avoid actions capable of breaching public peace, and continue supporting law enforcement efforts across the state.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to resolving disputes through non-violent means, describing dialogue as a key tool for preventing conflict escalation and promoting communal harmony.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders—including the Local Government Chairman, the traditional ruler, town union executives, youth associations, and members of the traditional council—commended the Police Commissioner for his proactive initiative. They described the engagement as a timely intervention that would promote peace, unity, and development in Nimo and its environs.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all parties agreeing to maintain open communication channels and work collectively towards achieving lasting peace in Nimo and the entire Njikoka Local Government Area.
