With the Anambra gubernatorial election at the corner, on 8th November, the people of the state are prepared for what they described as an easy win for the incumbent governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, whom they see as the solution, whose administration has impacted their lives.
Investigations reveal that the people’s choice is Governor Soludo, who has unequivocally touched their lives and made the state a destination where they can invest and live in peace without security threats that bedeviled the state before his assumption of office.
Ogbonna Uzor from Okpoko disclosed that the election would be in favour of Governor Soludo, who he stated is a jinx breaker, with regeneration projects that have been witnessed in the state, starting with Okpoko, a renowned slum, that was neglected for decades, but now has turned into a haven of new projects.
He said the new general hospital, with free antenatal care for women, has relieved many citizens of the burden of medical bills, in addition to free education for children, water facilities, and roads connecting other communities.
An airport cab driver, Chinedu Ezekwe, stated that though the opposition parties, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), are also trying to persuade people but everybody wants Soludo to continue the great job he’s doing. He says Anambra is for the All Progressive Grand Alliance.
He also lauded the governor for breaking the 34-year jinx by building the new government house, termed the Light House, a project that seemed impossible to past administrations. This is followed by the road networks, the Solution Fun City built for recreational and cultural activities, and the empowerment scheme for youths, which has led to more wealth creation.
Mrs. Chukwura Ifeyinwa from Anaocha, while praising Governor Soludo for his transformation of the state, said, “Governor Soludo is our man, the able governor, we trust him, we are for him, for the first and second term in office.”
Ms. Ada Eze, from Ekwulobia, affirmed that though the opposition parties have tried to destroy the good works of Governor Soludo, but her vote and others in the community would be for the governor, who has turned the situation around with infrastructural development, surpassing his predecessors.
With a few days to the election, the fate of the various candidates appears to be hanging in the balance, as there are strong indications that Governor Soludo would win, considering his archievements.
These achievements are hinged on what Governor Soludo stated are in five pillars: security, infrastructure and economic transformation, human capital and social agenda, governance and values, and environmental sustainability.
Under Governor Soludo, Anambra State topped the list in the 2025 State of States Fiscal Performance ranking of BudgIT, as the best-performing state in the country, with achievements that have received commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described the governor as a ‘progressive,’ with whom he would like to work with, a friend since 2003.
The governor has also been made in the area of agriculture; in education, with free education to students and schools built, with the employment of 8,115 additional teachers, together with the regeneration of tertiary institutions in the state; and in health, where five new general hospitals have been built, others renovated, with telemedicine and free healthcare services for pregnant women.
His Homeland Security Law has birthed the state security system, Agunechemba, to complement the existing security network, and the formation of Operation Udo Ga-Achi forces has drastically reduced the crime rate in the state. In human capital development, the governor has empowered over 30,000 youths in digital skills. Also, his administration has digitalised the governance systems, among others.
