URGES POLITICAL ACTORS TO EMBRACE PEACE BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE ELECTION
In furtherance of ongoing efforts to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free governorship election in Anambra State, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on Monday, 3rd November 2025, witnessed the signing of a Peace Accord by flag bearers of political parties participating in the forthcoming election.
The event, held at the International Conference Centre, Awka, was organized by the National Peace Committee (NPC) and had in attendance political leaders, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organizations, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, the IGP emphasized the need for political tolerance, mutual respect, and adherence to democratic principles. He called on all candidates and their supporters to commit genuinely to peace before, during, and after the election.

Egbetokun reaffirmed the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to provide comprehensive security coverage throughout the electoral process. He assured that the Police would remain neutral, professional, and guided by the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
The Inspector General commended the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, for his proactive security engagements and sustained advocacy for peaceful participation across the State.
In their respective remarks, the political candidates pledged to uphold the principles of non-violence, urging their supporters to demonstrate restraint, tolerance, and respect for the electoral process.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the signing of the Peace Accord represents a crucial step toward promoting harmony, mutual trust, and political maturity as Anambra State prepares for the November 8, 2025, governorship election.
