The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to community-driven security initiatives as he hosted a high-powered delegation from the Aguleri community on Saturday, 22 November 2025, at the Police Command Headquarters in Awka.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the Police and residents across the state. CP Orutugu praised the Aguleri community for its active role in peacebuilding and its continued support for law enforcement activities. He noted that enduring security is best achieved when communities and security agencies work hand-in-hand.

“We are encouraged by your commitment to peaceful coexistence and your readiness to support policing efforts,” the Commissioner said, emphasizing that intelligence sharing and collaboration remain crucial in preventing crime.

Leading the delegation, His Majesty Eze (Dr.) Chukwuemeka Eri, Akaji Ovor Igbo, the Ezeora 34th and occupant of the Obu Gad, Enugwu Aguleri, expressed appreciation for CP Orutugu’s leadership. He pledged the community’s full cooperation in strengthening security, including youth sensitization, early conflict resolution and providing timely information to the Police.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, discussions during the meeting centered on enhancing communication channels, improving community engagement platforms, and introducing joint crime-prevention initiatives to sustain peace in the region.

Both parties renewed their commitment to maintaining a safe environment across Anambra State, underscoring the importance of trust, mutual respect and continuous partnership.
