ANAMBRA POLICE ARREST 1

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu Ukwu, have arrested a suspected cultist and armed robber following a patrol along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road in Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The suspect, Chiemerie Udeh, 22, was intercepted driving a black Lexus vehicle (registration number RSH 613 AZ) on the evening of October 16, 2025. A thorough search of the vehicle and the suspect led to the recovery of one locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle may have been stolen and was allegedly being used in connection with a planned rivalry cult attack. The suspect, along with the recovered firearm, ammunition, and vehicle, has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining operations against cultism and violent crimes across the state.

“We urge residents to continue providing timely intelligence to aid our fight against criminal and cult-related activities,” the CP stated.
