ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS SUSPECTED

In the early hours of Sunday, August 10, 2025, the operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation, arrested one Charles Chinonso, 32 years old, a suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group, and recovered a vehicle earlier reported stolen in Imo State. The recovery took place at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the arrest followed a complaint by the victim, who reported that the vehicle was snatched at the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State. Acting on credible technological intelligence, Police operatives traced the vehicle to its location and effected the arrest.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD had assured that the Command will liaise with the Imo State Police Command, as the robbery incident occurred within their jurisdiction, to ensure that the suspect and the recovered vehicle are processed by extant legal procedures.
