In an effort to reinforce the newly launched Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has inaugurated a monitoring team to ensure professionalism and adherence to operational guidelines by officers deployed across the state.
The monitoring team, announced on Tuesday, April 16, 2025, will be led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Awka, DCP Mantu Chong.
The team is tasked with overseeing the conduct of operatives to guarantee civility and strict compliance with the operational order. DCP Chong can be reached directly via 07030871026.
CP Orutugu, speaking on behalf of the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies, expressed profound gratitude to the state government and supportive citizens for their backing of the initiative.
He also commended the dedication and sacrifices of officers and sister security agencies working tirelessly to curb crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and other threats—especially during the Easter period.
According to the Police Commissioner, while the operation is geared towards combating violent crimes, it also incorporates Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms and community policing principles. This provides room for individuals and communities seeking peaceful means to resolve conflicts.
“The Anambra Police Command is committed to a continuous review of this operation, and we will keep exploring innovative strategies to enhance the safety and security of lives and property across the state,” CP Orutugu said.
The public is urged to contact the Command Control Room via 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on 08039334002 for any security-related concerns. The ‘NPF Rescue Me’ app is also available for free download on Android and iOS devices, providing another platform for emergency assistance.
The Command also encourages residents to reach out to their respective Area Commanders or Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) for localized support.
