The Anambra State Police Command has declared its readiness and high optimism ahead of the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA), scheduled to commence on February 14, 2026, in Asaba, Delta State, with officers of the Command determined to compete strongly for honours.

The biennial sporting event, themed “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action,” will bring together police officers from state commands and formations across the country to compete in a wide range of sporting activities.

As part of preparations for the games, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, represented by the Command Management Team, on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, hosted strategic officers and selected athletes of the Command at the Police Headquarters in Awka.

During the engagement, CP Orutugu commended the officers for their steadfastness, discipline, and commitment, describing their enthusiasm and determination as a clear demonstration of excellence beyond routine policing duties.

He noted that the All Police Games provide an important platform for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, unity, and mental alertness, all of which are critical to effective policing and professional efficiency.

In a statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner expressed confidence in the preparedness and morale of the Anambra Police contingent, assuring them of the Command’s full support as they strive to win medals and make the Command proud at the national level.

He further charged the officers to uphold the core values of discipline, fairness, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, reminding them that they would be ambassadors of the Anambra State Police Command and must conduct themselves with dignity and professionalism at all times.

The 2026 Police Games will feature competitions in various sporting events including archery, arm wrestling, basketball, volleyball, football, judo, tug of war, karate, tennis, swimming, chess, boxing, weightlifting, and several others, aimed at fostering camaraderie, wellness, and unity within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Anambra State Police Command has wished its contingent success and expressed optimism for a commendable outing at the games.
