
In preparation for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, the Anambra State Police Command convened a high-level security coordination meeting today, bringing together key representatives from various security agencies operating within the state.
The meeting, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, was organized in line with directives from the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES). It served as a strategic platform for inter-agency collaboration, operational planning, and intelligence sharing ahead of the crucial poll.
Presiding over the session on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel. In his remarks, DCP Ezekiel reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, credible, and secure electoral process.

He stressed the importance of synergy among all security stakeholders, noting that safeguarding the electoral process is a shared responsibility that must be approached with professionalism, neutrality, and vigilance.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Agencies in attendance included the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Fire Service, and the Nigeria Correctional Service. All reaffirmed their readiness to work together under the ICCES framework to ensure the safety of voters and the integrity of the election.
A dedicated Situation Room has been established at the Command Headquarters to serve as the central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and rapid response to any emerging security developments during the election period.
The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents of its readiness to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
