The Anambra State Police Command, on Monday, 3rd November 2025, had the honour of receiving the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, who was on an official visit to witness the signing of the Peace Accord among political party flag bearers ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
The IGP, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, DIG Benjamin Okolo, fdc, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Operations Department, DIG Yakubu Kwazhi, mni, was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD. Also, on hand to welcome the delegation were the Supervising Officer of the Command and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13 Ukpo-Dunukofia, AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, members of the Command Management Team, senior officers, and other ranks who turned out in large numbers to accord the visiting team a befitting reception.
Addressing officers and men of the Command, the IGP commended CP Orutugu for his proactive security initiatives, robust inter-agency collaboration, and consistent stakeholder engagement across the State. He charged officers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and apolitical, while reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, credible, and secure electoral process in the forthcoming governorship election.
As part of the day’s activities, DIG Benjamin Okolo, in company with AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, decorated the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emmanuel Ogbuanya, who was recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The promotion, according to the IGP, was in recognition of the officer’s exemplary service record, professionalism, and dedication to duty.

In his goodwill message, the IGP congratulated the newly promoted officer and urged him to view his elevation as a call to higher responsibility. He further enjoined him to continue upholding the core values of integrity, diligence, and excellence that define the Nigeria Police Force.
In their separate remarks, AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter and CP Ikioye Orutugu noted that the IGP’s visit would further boost the morale of officers and men of the Command, enhancing their motivation toward effective service delivery before, during, and after the election.
In his vote of thanks, DCP Emmanuel Ogbuanya expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the honour of his promotion and pledged a renewed commitment to the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police Force.
Also in attendance were the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Anambra Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, senior officers of the Command, and other distinguished guests, as stated in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
