
…EXPRESSES HIGH DEGREE OF PROFESSIONALISM UNDER BRIGADE COMMANDER
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, has inaugurated the remodelled “Calf House”, the official residence of the Commander, 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos State.
The project was initiated and executed by the Commander, 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Olawole Matthew Oyekola, who, during the commissioning on Wednesday, 26th February, 2025, briefed the COAS on the phased construction works and the dilapidated state of the residence on assumption of command on 21st August, 2024.
In his brief, he disclosed that the comprehensive remodelling work included the entire main building, male and female stewards’ quarters. In addition, there were the construction of two security posts, a back gate, interlocking of some portions, and tarring of the compound.
The project which is in line with the COAS quote that says “If you add value to the Army, the Army will eventually add value to you,” is in consonance with his Command Philosophy, “To Consolidate the Transformation of the NA Towards Bequeathing a Well-Motivated and Combat-Ready Force that can Effectively Discharge its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”.

In his remarks, Lt Gen Oluyede expressed satisfaction with the level of professionalism being exhibited by the 9 Brigade under the leadership of the Commander, Brigadier General Oyekola.
He applauded his tremendous degree of value being added to the NA by the Commander and enjoined him to keep up the good work.
Also inaugurated at the 9 Brigade, Ikeja Cantonment by the COAS were impactful projects which included the newly renovated and remodeled 70 Supply and Transport Residences, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ and Corporal Below Quarters.
The COAS was conducted round the residence and facilities on a guided tour by the Brigade Commander in the company of some Principal staff officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders and other senior officers.
