…ALLEGEDLY SOLD MILITARY EQUIPMENT, DIVERTS RICE PALLIATIVES FOR SOLDIERS
Brigadier General Musa Abubakar Sadiq, the erstwhile commander of 3 Brigade, Kano, has been allegedly detained by the Military authority in Abuja over alleged diversion of rice palliatives and sale of military equipment without authorization.
Information obtained revealed that the embattled officer also disposed generator sets and operational vehicles, to scrap yards.
With litany of scandals, Brig Gen Sadiq was said to have also carted away equipment, including a MIKANO heavy-duty generator, at Military Training Camp, Falgore, Kano and sold them to metal scrap dealers.
As a result, the military officer has been replaced by a former Registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Brigadier General A.M. Tukur.
Confirming his detention on Wednesday in Abuja in a statement made available electronically to our Defence correspondent, the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said that the immediate past Commander 3 Brigade Kano Brigadier General MA Sadiq, is currently undergoing military investigation into administrative discrepancies while he was Commander 3 Brigade.
Consequently, he explained, “the senior officer has been relieved of Command to ensure a thorough investigation.
The Army spokesperson observed that the Nigerian Army being a self-regulatory institution founded on the bedrock of discipline, justice, and accountability, has zero tolerance for indiscipline and would, therefore, not condone any form of misconduct or actions and inactions that could undermine the threshold of its values and principles.
Gen Nwachukwu, while assuring both internal and external publics, added that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate administrative action will be taken.
“Our commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency remains unwavering,” stressing that “We guarantee that the process will be fair, impartial, and in line with our established procedures.’
It was learnt that the Defence Headquarters gave the rice to the brigades nationwide for distribution to soldiers as a palliative, but he shared only 5kg bags once to the soldiers and sold the remaining batches.
It was further gathered that Brig Gen Sadiq was first invited to Abuja for questioning, and immediately ordered to be locked in the military Police guardroom.
Brig Gen Musa Abubakar Sadiq, before he was posted to Kano, was the 81 Division Garrison Commander, Dodan Barracks, Obalende.
