ARMY SPEAKS ON DEATH OF LT HARUNA

ARMY SPEAKS ON DEATH OF LT HARUNA

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the unfortunate and tragic incident involving Lt S Haruna and his wife, which occurred on 22nd September 2025, resulting in burns sustained by the officer.

According to the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters 2 Brigade, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Captain Lawal Bala Muhammad said that following the incident, the officer was evacuated to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), where he received comprehensive medical treatment.

He further explained that despite concerted efforts by the medical team to stabilize his condition, the officer succumbed to death on Monday, 6th October 2025, while receiving care.

Captain Muhammad further disclosed that an investigation has been instituted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident before the demise of the officer, adding that the outcome of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion.

While commiserating with the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased officer, the Nigerian Army authorities pray for the repose of his soul.

The Nigerian Army appreciates the support and understanding of the general public and reaffirms its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the conduct of its personnel.
