The Association of Esan Professionals (AEP) has granted N7.5 million scholarship to 50 students of Esanland in higher institutions of learning.

The beneficiaries of the award were selected across the five local government Areas of Edo state and were presented cheques of N150,000 each in company of their parents and guardians.

The award ceremony was held last Friday, 8th August 2025 at the Meeting Hall, Uyi Grand Hotel, G.R.A. Benin City, Edo State.

In his remarks, the President, Association of Esan Professionals, Dr Henry Ehi Egbiki reminded the awardees of the imperative of hard work and urged them to be studious in their various course of studies.

In his wards of encouragement, he said, “First Class is not met for people with two heads. The differences is the time spent, time invested in your studies. While others are sleeping, first class students are reading – burning the midnight oil. That is why they come out successful. You too can be very successful if you devote extra time to your studies,” Dr Egbiki reiterated.

In the letter sent to the awardees, explained that “the programme is part of AEP’s contribution to the development of our youth and education in Esanland.

“We believe that by investing in our youths and education, we are contributing our quota to creating a better future for our people.

“We hope that this financial support will inspire you to continue to pursue academic excellence in your studies.”

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Okosun Osatohamen Doreen, a student at the University of Benin, expressed her appreciation to the Association for the golden opportunity, adding that she would not take the scholarship award for granted.

She commended AEP, especially Dr Egbiki for the initiatives and encouragement to all Esan students in higher institution, urging them to leverage on the singular opportunity to be the best in their various courses of studies.

The Association of Esan Professionals (AEP) is a socio-cultural and nonpartisan body, which was established in February 2001. It is made up of distinguished Esan sons and daughters who are accomplished professionals and have excelled in various fields of human endeavour.
