The Executive Council of the Association of West African Legislative Correspondents (AWALCO), has paid a courtesy visit to the new Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Rt. Honourable Memuonatu Ibrahima, at the ECOWAS Parliament Secretariat in Abuja.
The visit was to congratulate her on the new role and reaffirm the commitment of the association in strengthening the existing partnership.
The Speaker urged the journalists to ensure proper reportage of the parliament’s activities.
She said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with your institution and appreciate your willingness to collaborate.
“Communication is key to success. Without effective communication, it’s challenging to achieve our goals. Thank you for the gift, and I look forward to our continued partnership”.
Leader of the delegation and President of AWALCO, Comrade Innocent Odoh, who expressed admiration for the Speaker Ibrahima leadership, reassured of the association’s commitment in ensuring the achievement of set goals of the parliament.
“We are proud to have you as our Speaker. Your experience in parliamentary affairs will undoubtedly bring a lot of value to our partnership.
“We wish you well and are confident that, by the grace of God, we will achieve our set objectives”, he said.
The visit highlights the importance of collaboration between the ECOWAS Parliament and AWALCO in promoting regional integration and development in West Africa. With the support of the press, the Speaker is committed to achieving the Parliament’s objectives and fostering a stronger partnership with AWALCO.
Member of AWALCO executive also used the opportunity to present a congratulatory card to the Speaker.
