Katsina State Police Command has dealt a great blow on bandits operating in the state as they have killed two of their notorious members and recovered seven motorcycles during a gun attack.
The police also rescued two kidnapped persons; Musa Rabiu and Rabiu Sani unhurt while an unspecified number of domestic animals were rustled.
“Operation Puff Adder” was led by the Area Commander, Dutsinma, on Wednesday, who stormed Kwaro village in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina state and neutralised the two bandits while other fled with bullets wounds into the forest.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina state Command, SP Gambo Isah on Thursday said in a statement that the operation was based on Information.
As a result, he added that the police swooped on their location on August 12, 2020, about 10:30hrs when a report came that the bandits in large numbers, armed with AK 47 rifles had attacked the village and killed one Mohammed Auwal.
Gambo explained that “the team went after the hoodlums and engaged them in a gun duel and succeeded in killing two of the bandits while the rest escaped into the forest abandoning seven of their motorcycles and recovered one empty magazine of AK 47 rifle.
Meanwhile, search parties are combing the area with a view to arresting and/or recovering more dead bodies of the hoodlums shot during the gun battle. And investigation is ongoing.
