The opportunity of visiting and participating in Jerusalem Christian Pilgrimage will fulfil his heart desire to fellowship with other congregants in the Holy City and that will meet the expectation of Mrs. Adetoun Ajasa, who won a slot to embark on pilgrimage to Jerusalem courtesy of Hon Taiwo Oyekan’s N20m economic empowerment programme.
Describing him as “A God-sent
man to the people of Lagos Island, a kind-hearted, humble and very accessible,” Mrs. Ajasa while expressing joy and satisfaction, added that she never thought she could perform pilgrimage in the next five years but God has made it possible through Hon. Oyekan’s Intervention.
Asked how her dream became a reality, she explained that one afternoon, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan visited her locality and asked if she has an International Passport and she said no.
“The next day, he made an arrangement for the processing of an International Passport and made the declaration that he was going to sponsor my pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
Today, Thursday, December 19, 2024, he has presented me a slot for the Jerusalem Pilgrimage. I never thought it could come this easy,” she reiterated.
Other beneficiaries who spoke and expressed their appreciation were a young Artisan, Jaiyeola Ayodeji, who received an Industrial Sewing Machine.
According to him, “The sewing machine presented to me will help to expand my tailoring and fashion designing business and improve my income earning ability.”
To Mrs. Rafatu Tijani, a widow said that Oyekan’s unblemished economic empowerment has empowered her to do so many things just as she applauded and likened Hon. Oyekan’s gesture to that of his father, Aremo Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan and Grandfather, the Late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan, who were at different times provided for the needy in the society.
“Our Councillor does not discriminate. He is people’s man and we love him for his care and generosity.
Hon. Taiwo Oyekan has continued to touch the lives of people within his domain especially Lagos Island. Recently, she disbursed N20m worth of materials while some received cash awards.
