The excitement on Nigerian Idol has reached new heights as the competition, proudly sponsored by Bigi, unveils its Top 7 contestants, bringing fans closer to discovering Nigeria’s next music superstar.

This week’s live show, themed “Naija to the World,” celebrated the rhythm, richness, and global influence of Nigerian music. The night featured electrifying performances of iconic local hits that stirred both nostalgia and national pride.

From timeless Afrobeat to soulful ballads and spirit-lifting gospel, the Top 7 contestants delivered performances that showed their versatility and deep connection to the sounds that define Nigeria’s musical identity.

Purp opened the night with a tender, heartfelt rendition of Asa’s “Be My Man,” delivering every note with the intimacy of a whispered love letter. Lawrence followed with Fireboy DML’s “Like I Do,” pouring emotion into each lyric and serenading his way deeper into fans’ hearts.

Brammy brought warmth and romance with a velvety performance of Burna Boy’s “For My Hand.” Then came Boss Lady, who gave a goosebump-inducing delivery of Timi Dakolo’s “Nothing Dey Spoil for Your Hand”—a stirring vocal prayer laced with passion and grace.

Raymu earned praise for his soulful take on Wande Coal’s “Ololufe,” impressing with smooth vocals and emotional depth. Mikki followed with a powerfully spiritual performance of Judikay’s “Omemma,” prompting the judges to remark that he sounded more like a guest artist than a contestant.

Closing the night was Kristopher, who brought undeniable stage presence and bold energy to his rendition of Fela Kuti’s iconic “Lady,” channeling the Afrobeat legend with charisma and flair.

It was also an emotional farewell for Ellacentric and Jekenova, who exited the competition after heartfelt performances—reminding us that though the curtain may fall for some, their musical journeys are far from over.

The evening was further elevated by a special guest appearance from acclaimed Nigerian vocalist Waje, who brought both star power and mentorship to the show.

As the headline sponsor, Bigi, Nigeria’s beloved soft drink brand from Rite Foods Limited, continues to refresh the stage and empower the dreams of emerging musical talents. With just weeks to go and only seven contestants left, the road to stardom is more intense than ever. The performances are rising, the stakes are higher, and the dream is alive.

Don’t miss a moment of the journey, tune in every Sunday night on DStv Channel 196 and GOtv Channel 49 at 7 PM (WAT).
