A new entrant into Nigeria’s aviation sector, Binani Air, is scheduled to commence commercial operations next Monday, launching flights on key routes including Anambra, Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri, and Port Harcourt.
The airline, which received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in July 2024, is owned by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani) — widely regarded as the richest woman in Adamawa State and the broader North-East region. Senator Binani, who also owns one of the largest printing presses in Northern Nigeria, now makes history as the first woman to own an airline in the country, marking a significant milestone for gender representation in the aviation industry.

In another groundbreaking development, the airline is headed by a female Chief Executive Officer, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, making Binani Air the first Nigerian airline to feature both a female owner and a female CEO.
In preparation for its launch, one of the airline’s Embraer 170 aircraft reportedly completed a successful test flight this week, signalling operational readiness ahead of the start date.
