The Corps Commander, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME), Maj Gen Baba Umaru Yahaya, has called on serving officers of the corps to emulate the exceptional and professional prowess of some officers who have been retired after 35 years of meritorious service.
He gave the charge on Friday, 27th September 2024, during a sent-forth organized for the Commander Technical Group, Brigadier General AK Onasoga, held at the NAEME Officers’ Mess, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos.
While eulogizing Brigadier General AK Onasoga exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication to duty, the CCEME observed that the significant contributions of the retired officer to the development of the Nigerian Army’s Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, cannot be quantified.
He stated that as the Senior officer embarks on a new chapter in his life, “he leaves behind a legacy of service, honour and dedication that would continue to inspire future generations of Nigerian Army officers especially those of the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
On military duties, he enjoined them to emulate the retired senior officer’s attitude towards work by exhibiting a high level of discipline and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian Army development.
Responding, Brigadier General Onasoga, who was also the President Mess Committee (PMC), in his speech, thanked the Corps Commander, Senior officers, Staff officers of HQ NAEME, Honorary members of the mess and his family for their unwavering support throughout his career.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve his nation during his years in military service.
Highpoint of the event was the commissioning of a 7.5 KVA solar-powered, inverter and batteries at the mess.
