She dazzled the mammoth audience with her culinary expertise. The aroma permeating the large hall where the 8th edition of GTCO Food and Drink 2025 Masterclass was taking place was infectious and capable of waking up a dying horse.
Chef Tilewa Odedina, fondly called Chef Tilly, was a phenomenon. She explained that her father has continued to be a supporter and greatest motivator, having left the banking industry to pursue a romance with the culinary world.
To convince the audience, she brought her father on stage. It was emotionally laden. She narrated a story of initial uncertainty that clouded her career; afraid that she would make it to the apogee, having fared well in the banking industry.

The GTCO Food & Drink Festival memorable event that gave the singular opportunity for Chef Tilly to showcase the richness of African cuisine. When she was done, the myths surrounding some African Cuisine as not as nutritionally rich compared to some continental dishes were dispelled.
Emphasizing that healthy eating doesn’t have to be expensive or inaccessible, during her masterclass, Chef Tilewa observed that the abundance of natural resources in Nigeria, which can be leveraged to create delicious and nutritious meals without breaking the bank, are enormous asset at our disposal to rule the world.
“Healthy food is not only accessible in Nigeria, but it’s also affordable. Many traditional African dishes are already healthy and nutritious, and with a few tweaks, we can make them even more wholesome.”
While sharing some of her favourite recipes, which Jollof Cauliflower Rice and Grilled Moringa and Coconut Chicken, Chef Tilewa showcased the flavours and nutritional benefits of African cuisine, which created an unforgettable excitement among the audience.
